The state of Oklahoma has established an approach to address drug and alcohol abuse through the development of 13 separate drug task forces. With the help of these forces, the state has extra manpower and equipment to help address illegal and harmful drug activity.
About 60 individuals are assigned to work on investigations involving narcotics in Oklahoma. Investigators within the Oklahoma drug task force receive training that enables them to collect evidence, handle hazardous materials, and perform other critical duties.
Under Title 63 of the Oklahoma Statutes, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) is responsible for enforcing the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substance Act (UCDSA). The agency also investigates crimes involving human trafficking and money laundering.
OBN has four investigative divisions: Diversion, Enforcement West, Enforcement Central, and Enforcement East. In addition, the Legal Department, Public Information Office, and Administrative Services Division report directly to the Director and support all areas of the agency’s work. OBN works to improve investigative and enforcement techniques, oversee regulatory functions, and serve and protect Oklahomans.
